How we read your space
Biophilic design is the intentional integration of nature and natural patterns into buildings and spaces to improve human health, wellbeing and creativity. We look at your space in three ways, and at how they work together.
Nature in the Space
The direct presence of nature
Daylight and how it changes through the day. Views of sky, trees and water. Living plants. Fresh air and gentle movement. What you hear and smell. A sense of weather and season.
Natural Analogues
What echoes nature
The real materials around you. Organic shapes and the patterns found in nature. A richness of texture and detail that holds the eye gently, with a clear sense of order.
Nature of the Space
How the space is arranged
Open views and sheltered corners. A layout that reveals itself gradually. A sense of belonging to its own landscape, climate and culture.

Materials
What your space is made of matters to us more than anything else. We look at whether materials are authentic, whether they are healthy to live with, where they come from, and how responsibly they were made.

Every space can hold something that makes a person stop: a view, light at a certain hour, a piece of exceptional craft. We look for it, and for how to make more of it.
Our reading follows the patterns of biophilic design published by Terrapin Bright Green, the definition of biophilic design used by the Journal of Biophilic Design, and the practical guidance in the Biophilic Design Guide.
Guidance, not a score
You will not receive marks or a rating. A space is not a product, and a number would tell you very little. You will receive what our assessor observed, why it matters, and what we would do, written for your space and nobody else’s.
What your report includes
- An overall reading of your space: what already works and where the greatest opportunity lies
- Findings in three parts, with a dedicated focus on materials and on awe
- Recommendations grouped by scale: what you can do now, material choices, and changes to the space
- The types of natural material and intervention to explore
- The science behind each main recommendation, in plain language
What we need from you
- The completed client intake form
- Photographs of each room, taken from two opposite corners
- Each window and what you can see from it
- Close-ups of the main floor, wall and furniture surfaces
- Any terrace, balcony or garden
- A floor plan or sketch layout
Photographs and plans are essential: most of what we assess can only be seen.

Before you book
Space size. This audit is designed for spaces up to 150 m². For larger spaces, please contact us for a quote.
Independence. The report does not name suppliers or products. Its role is to tell you honestly where your space stands. If you would like help with sourcing afterwards, that is a separate service.
Right to decline. We review every intake form before we begin. If there is not enough information for a meaningful assessment, we will contact you first; if it cannot be resolved, we return your payment in full within 3 working days.
Confidentiality. Everything you share is treated in strict confidence and used only to prepare your assessment.
